SA Championships

The IFAA SA Championships isn’t just another art competition—it’s a chance for art schools to send their top performers to compete for the title of "Best of the Best!" The event serves as a gateway to international competitions, with the goal of selecting the IFAA International team. Since 1997, we’ve proudly been the first in South Africa to compete internationally, with great success. Our focus is on providing quality judges who offer constructive feedback, ensuring every performer grows from the experience. The competition includes solos, duets, trios, and quartets.

Preliminary Grand Prix

.The Preliminary Grand Prix is a stepping stone to the SA Grand Prix, designed for dance and show modelling groups, duets, trios, and quartets. It gives younger, beginner performers the chance to compete and progress. Overall winners can move on to the SA Grand Prix the following year, with the opportunity to qualify for the International World Grand Prix. This consist of the age group of Juniors 3-8 years.

SA Grand Prix

The SA Grand Prix is an international event open to dance groups, schools, academies, and universities worldwide, with a focus on amateur performers. A separate professional session is also held. The competition is for dance and show modelling groups, with a minimum of 5 participants per group and no maximum limit. Once we receive your details, we’ll review your style and scenario. Groups typically perform in two shows: the Trial Competition Show and the Final Competition Show.

Exams

Exams are held yearly at your studio by qualified judges, providing dancers with an opportunity to deepen their training and gain accountability. While not mandatory, exams are highly recommended as they promote physical development, goal setting, discipline, respect, and confidence. The IFAA exam syllabus is available exclusively to registered IFAA members and is fully copyrighted.

International Competitions

Since 1997, we’ve been the first in South Africa to compete internationally, with great success at the American Championships from 1997 to 2012. In 2013, we expanded to the European World Championships, Dance Grand Prix, and Namibia. To compete internationally, you must first participate in our SA Championships and the Dance and Modelling Grand Prix to qualify.
